Security readiness is a work queue, not a scary PDF
Small teams often know security matters but do not know what to do first. The first useful artifact is a short queue with an owner, an evidence request, and a reason for the priority.
Start with four surfaces
- Access: who can reach important systems, and who should no longer have access?
- Recovery: what is backed up, and has a restore actually been checked?
- Vendors: what outside services receive business data?
- Evidence: what could you show a customer, insurer, or partner if asked?
Keep unknowns visible
An unknown is not proof of a breach, and it is not proof that everything is fine. Label it honestly, assign an owner, and choose the smallest safe investigation.
